Monroe enters this door with his mother’s paintbrush in hand and it is here that the game begins.Starting off in an area that is completely white, you will need to fling balls of paint at this ‘blank canvas’ to help you figure out where you are and navigate the environment. The boy awakes one night to find the painting empty, with a mysterious new door appearing in his room. Monroe is placed in an orphanage when his mother tragically dies with the orphanage only allowing him to take one of his mother’s many paintings with him.Monroe decides upon his mother’s favourite painting ‘ The Unfinished Swan‘ to keep him company in his new home. Monroe’s mother starts many a painting, but is yet to finish one. Having missed out on The Unfinished Swan when the game made its debut on the PlayStation 3 in 2012, when Giant Sparrow announced that their paint-flinging, first-person adventure game was coming to PlayStation Vita it left me with no excuses not to give it a go.At the start of the game you learn of a young boy named Monroe and his mother – who is a painter. There, he learns that the King, wanting to leave behind some sort of legacy, decides to make a family, so he paints a woman to be his companion. However, due to a combination of his negligence and incompetence, all of the King's subjects became fed up with his rule and left the kingdom.Monroe continues to pursue the swan to a distant island off of the coast. He soon discovers the remains of a vast but deserted kingdom, where he learns that the kingdom was once ruled by the King, who used his powers to build the kingdom. With the help of his mother's magical silver paintbrush, Monroe begins to explore the painted world as he chases the swan. Monroe is told by his orphanage that he is only allowed to keep one of her paintings, so he chooses her favorite, a painting of a swan missing its neck.One night, Monroe wakes up to find the swan has escaped its painting, and he chases it until he finds himself in a mysterious painted world.
